Air Rail at Zoholics Spain 2025: low-code innovation for international fleet management
During the latest edition of Zoholics Spain 2025, Zoho's flagship event held in Madrid, Air Rail participated in the customer roundtable together with Universae, Perfecta Energía and Grupo Colón IECM, sharing its experience in the digitization of demanding sectors such as rail and airports.
In his speech, César Viteri Ramírez, CIO of Air Rail, explained how the company - European leader in airport support equipment rental and a pioneer in fleet electrification - has transformed its business model with the support of technology.
"Our users work on the tarmac of an airport and need real-time information. With a small IT team, Zoho allowed us to develop fast and effective low-code solutions," said Viteri.
From sales to service: a new operational model
Air Rail, founded in 1992, has grown from a distributor of industrial machinery to a service company with operations in eight countries and a fleet of more than 5,000 pieces of equipment, 70% of which is electric. This transition to full-service rental required the development of systems that offer transparency, agile communication and data sharing with customers and suppliers.
GSE REPORT: low-code innovation for the customer
In response to this need, the Air Rail team decided to create its own management tool based on Zoho Creator. Thus was born GSE REPORT, a web and mobile application that allows customers to visualize and manage their leased fleets, report incidents and access real-time information on availability and maintenance.
The internal development with Zoho Creator reduced time and costs, and allowed the system to be integrated with Business Intelligence tools, providing a more complete view of the state of operations.
Keys to sustainable digitalization
During the roundtable, participants agreed that successful digital transformation combines three factors: clear processes, scalable technology and skilled people. In the words of César Viteri:
"The solution must be open, interoperable and with predictable costs. Technology providers must grow with you and share the same eagerness to explore new opportunities."
Air Rail's experience demonstrates that low-code solutions can accelerate digitization even in complex industrial environments, improving operational efficiency, sustainability and global competitiveness.
